The third quarter of 2010 has come to an end and it’s time to see how my unfinished goals have progressed since the first and second quarter check-ups.

1. Weigh 180 lbs by December 31, 2010.
Currently at 182 lbs. and with three months go to this should be doable.

2. Play 365 games of chess.
At the beginning of the year this goal seemed ambitious and challenging.  It has turned out to be a little more than that.  At the end of the first quarter I was one game ahead, however by the end of the second quarter I’d fallen behind 21 games.  Although I’ve completed 233 games, I’m still 40 games behind.

3. Provide weekly reminders to each Fedora team so that Fedora 14 ships on time.
The weekly schedule reminders continue to roll out.  I remain optimistic that we can ship the final release of Fedora 14 on schedule if we continue to follow our schedules and proactively fix bugs on the final Fedora 14 blocker list.  If we release Fedora 14 on time, it could set us up for six full months to prepare Fedora 15 which has a tentative GA date of 2011-04-26.

4. Help create 25 new Release Engineering SOPs
We made some good progress this quarter, aided in part by the session that Jesse Keating led at FUDCon Zurich.  We now have a total of 29 Release Engineering SOPs.  One of the lessons learned here, similar to my feature for Fedora 14, is that it is hard to remain accountable for a goal where so much depends on other people.  Better progress could be made if the weekly meetings were more consistent and we were more deliberate about completing one SOP each week.

5. Post 52 times to this blog in 2010 with at least one post each week.
Thirty-nine weeks have elapsed in 2010. So far there are sixty-eight posts in 2010 with at least one post each week.  This goal continues to get met, though some weeks are a close call.  I’m really glad I set this goal for this year.  It’s led me in lots of good directions and I see the speed and clarity of my writing improving.

We’ll check in one more time at the end of 2010 to see how everything ended up.  How are your goals going for 2010?
