I’m trying something new which is to occasionally make a post of five links to articles I’ve read or podcasts I’ve listened to that resonated with me. Here is the first batch:
- The U2 Method of High-Impact Writing by Oleg Mokhov–Lead with the punch line.
- The Case Against “I Love You” by Julien Smith –Specific praise is more meaningful.
- How do you want to lead your life? by Pam Slim –Boundaries around what you can and will do are not bad. You can’t truly “lead” in all areas.
- When Your Laugh = Someone’s Anguish by Lynn Gaertner-Johnston–Don’t assume that culturally accepted jokes or stereotypes are funny to everyone.
- Soul of a New Business by Chris Brogan–It doesn’t have to be a pure “business,” it could be an open source project or personal initiative. Read the article and substitute Fedora for “Business.” Be real. Be authentic.

John, thank you for mentioning my post about painful stereotypes. The experience I wrote about clearly resonated with me. I am glad it also touched you.
